On Sunday, November 5, 2017, the TCS NYC Marathon will take place, with runners from our city and around the world trekking through 26.2 miles of streets and highways in the five boroughs.
Aware of the many streets, thruways, bridges, lanes and highways that will be closed for the duration of the Marathon, we ask you to plan accordingly by waking up one hour, maybe even two hours earlier
(i.e. 5 AM, 6 AM) than normal in order to arrive at the Shrine
for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass early and on time.
1st Avenue will be Closed and the M116, M15 & M15 SBS Buses on 116th Street and 1st Avenue will be rerouted.
You will need additional time to cross the street on the intersection of East 116th Street and 1st Avenue during the Marathon.
Please also be aware of delays and route changes to Subway Lines, Train Lines, Buses and those Driving.
Thank you for sacrificing an hour or two of sleep in order to assist at the August and Most Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, here at the Shrine.
The Mass Schedule remains the same.
8 AM - Misa Cantada en Español
9:15 AM - Sung Mass in English with Families and Religious Education Students
10:25 AM - Sung Mass in Latin - Extraordinary Form, 1962 Missale Romanum
11:45 AM - Misa Cantada en Español con Familias y Estudiantes de Educación Religiosa
1 PM - Sung Mass in English
2:30 PM - Eucharystia; Spowiedź przed Mszą Świętą - Sung Mass in Polish
Daylight Savings takes effect this weekend, giving you an extra hour of sleep as the clocks fall back one hour.
Please offer up this inconvenience for the Poor Souls in Purgatory
and for the Conversion and Salvation of Sinners.
Please also pray for the safety and health of the runners partaking in the marathon, the workers and volunteers, EMT personnel,
police officers and all traveling by land, sea and air.
A Coffee Hour will be held after each Mass in the Lower Parish Hall, accessed by the 116th Street Entrance.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity!
MEMENTO MORI
PRAY FOR THE POOR SOULS IN PURGATORY!
Know you not that they that run in the race, all run indeed, but one receiveth the prize. So run that you may obtain. And every one that striveth for the mastery refraineth himself from all things. And they indeed that they may receive a corruptible crown: but we an incorruptible one. I therefore so run, not as at an uncertainty: I so fight, not as one beating the air. - 1 Corinthians 9:24-26
