Candlemas - Friday, February 2, 2018 7:30 PM

On Friday, February 2, 2018 at 7:30 PM, there will be a Traditional Latin Solemn Mass, 1962 Missale Romanum, Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite at the Pontifical Shrine and Parish Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Manhattan. 448 East 116th Street NY, NY 10029. The Church Universal marks 40 days since the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ with the Feast of the Purification of Our Lady and concludes the Christmas season. The Solemn Mass will be preceded by the Blessing and Distribution of Candles and Procession. All the Faithful are urged to bring candles to be blessed for storage at home. It is recommended that each Catholic household have two blessed candles for Visits to the sick and whenever Holy Communion is brought to the ill and homebound.

La Iglesia Universal marca 40 días desde la Natividad de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo con la Fiesta de la Purificación de Nuestra Señora y concluye la temporada navideña. La Misa Solemne estará precedida por la Bendición y Distribución de Velas y Procesión. Se insta a todos los fieles a traer velas para bendecirlas y guardarlas en casa. Fourth Annual Mass & Procession in Honor of the Holy Black Nazarene

  • On Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 6:30 PM in the evening, there will be the 4th Annual Mass in honor of Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno, the Holy Black Nazarene of Quiapo at the Pontifical Shrine and Parish Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Manhattan. 448 East 116th Street NY, NY 10029. Archbishop Bernardito Auza, Apostolic Nuncio, Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations and the Organization of American States will be the Principal Celebrant and Homilist. Following Mass, there will be a Candlelight Procession with the Sacred Statue upon the streets of East Harlem. At the conclusion of the Sacred Liturgical Rites, Blessed Bread and light refreshments will be distributed.

National Night of Prayer for Life and Rorate Candlelight Golden Mass


The National Night of Prayer for Life began on Friday, December 8, 2017 at 7:30 PM with the Solemn High Mass in the Extraordinary Form for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Following Mass, the Blessed Sacrament was exposed. The Four sets of Mysteries of the Holy Rosary were recited along with the singing of hymns. The Prayers and Chaplet to Saint Michael, the Recitation of Psalm 51 with arms outstretched were among the prayers prayed National Hour of Life at Midnight in which we were united with 20 Parishes in the Archdiocese of New York and many others around the country.

The All Night Vigil before the Blessed Sacrament continued with Prayers to the Holy Black Nazarene and Our Lady of Caysasay, the Chaplet of the Most Precious Blood and the Chaplet of the Divine Mercy. Adoration concluded with the Procession and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

The National All Night Vigil of Prayer concluded with the Rorate Mass in Honor of Our Lady in Advent.

Friday, December 8, 2017 is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a Holy Day of Obligation. You must attend the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass this day or the evening before at the nearest Catholic Church wherever you may be.
